Oglala Lakota College Library is the only Public Library on the Pine Ridge Reservation. In addition to providing adult services to several communities which do not have public libraries, the Library provides the following children's programs:
Oglala Lakota College Library coordinates an ongoing project for reservation children of all ages which promotes reading and literacy during the summer months. Contact Michelle May, Library Director, to learn how you can help with this project.
Through a grant provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services the library is able to visit Head Start and Early Head Start Centers throughout the reservation to provide reading materials to children and to read to the children twice a month. The Library has also instituted a library outreach program to the Head Start Centers by providing library books for the children to read. This collection is a traveling collection which is circulated among the many Head Start classrooms.
This is where you find a book!
