Information Literacy Standards

Standard One-Determine Extent of Information Needed

Standard Two-Access and evaluates information effectively & Efficiently

Standard Three-Evaluate and determine Effective Use of Information

Standard Four-Use information effectively to accomplish effort

Standard Five- use  information and recognize ethical,  legal guidelines for access and use

Research Process introduction

Task Definition- what do I do-what information will I need; evaluate need to find information to fulfill purpose-personnel or academic.

Info Seeking strategies-identify types and sources for information; evaluate time element using search methods, efficiency of search.

Location & Access-Physical component access to resources-evaluation of sources.

Use of Information- resources-evaluation of source, cost of effort summarize, beginning of synthesis.

Synthesis & Evaluation-uses information and access legally, ethically; acknowledges citations, copyright).
