Archivist Duties

The OLC Archivist shall collect, arrange and describe the archival records of the three aforementioned institutions and those of private donations. The OLC Archivist shall appraise all privately-donated materials, according to the mission and collection policy of the OLC Archives, and s/he will appraise all incoming institutional records according to their respective retention schedules. The OLC Archivist shall equally make available to qualified researchers all open archival record series, and provide the appropriate reference services for qualified researchers to garner permission for access to closed collections.

The OLC Archivist shall protect the integrity of the records in the archives' custody by guarding them against defacement, alteration or theft, and shall protect them against physical damage by excessive exposure to light, dampness or dryness. The OLC Archivist shall ensure that their evidentiary value is not impaired in the normal course of rehabilitation, arrangement and use.
